EXCALIBUR COPD Trial
Study of Shufeng Jiedu® (SFJD) capsules to aid antibiotic use reduction in acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Welcome to the University of Southampton’s EXCALIBUR Trial Patient Registration Website. Your doctor or nurse should have already provided a brief overview of the trial and has directed you to this website so that you may register for the EXCALIBUR COPD Trial.
EXCALIBUR is a Wessex-based clinical study from the University of Southampton looking into the use of a herbal treatment for acute exacerbations of COPD in the community. We are recruiting patients face-to-face at GP practices or remotely through this website.
Before registering, please read the EXCALIBUR Patient Information Sheet below for more information about the trial and click the "I would like to join the trial" link to register to take part. Should you encounter any issues with the registration process, your GP team will be able to help guide you through the system.
How do I join the trial?
You will be asked to provide some contact information so that the trial team at the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit may help facilitate your time on the trial. All information collected from you is used purely for the purposes of running the trial.
Following your registration, your doctor or nurse will send you a link via email so that you may provide your formal consent to participate. Your doctor or nurse will talk you through each step and answer any questions you have. An email with a link to download your consent form will be sent once the formal consent process is complete.
Finally, your doctor will run through the eligibility criteria with you to ensure that it is safe and suitable for you to take part in the trial. If you are eligible, a treatment pack will be allocated to you and you will be given a Trial ID. At this point you will be fully registered for the EXCALIBUR trial.
